Kate and Diana: a style comparison

In every fashion situation, Duchess Kate seems to echo the delicate styles of the much-loved Princess Diana and US celebrity magazine People called Kate "Part Di and totally dashing'' - and it's not hard to see what they mean. Take a look at our gallery as we compare the style similarities between Kate and Diana.

Keeping warm
In colder temperatures, Miss Middleton has taken a tip from Di and realized that a lady looks good in a fur hat. It may have caused controversy, but the mink hat that Kate wore at the Cheltenham horse-racing festival in 2006 had as much impact as a similar one worn by Diana at Christmas 1994.

They both are and were in Dianas' case women that came from non royal backgrounds and took on a job that is clearly near impossible to do to please everybody. At least with Kate she did not have to have to go through the grouling interigation that Diana was subjected to; and William is more "laid back" although he takes his job seriously; he and Kate have had what one would consider a more common dating time and more time to talk and discuss what there lives were going to be; where as Diana was popped onto the media out of no where and the focus of the world went to her and she let the people..commoners.. fall in love with her for the kindness and the work she did and for being a wonderful mother dispite what Charles was doing behind her back. Shame on him. But when it was her turn to find happiness she was laid to rest  as the cameras would not let her alone as there was one scandle after another being broke to the media..her sons were the ones' who lost the most; second her country as she was very dedicated and the world lost "THE PEOPLES PRINCESS"....GOD LOVE HER ..REST IN PEACE.......

Get real!  Diana hasn't been dead long enough for fashion to have changed all that much, of course the clothes are similar.  Most importantly, who cares!  Both women know/knew what suits/suited them and dress/dressed appropriately and that's all that matters.  Katharine should be left alone and these ridiculous "comparisons" should be laid to "rest in peace" just like Diana.

It's Princess Diana's anniversary...forget about Kate for one day.  Honor Diana.

I don't see the similarity at all. Kate is a brunette, Diana a blonde. Kate is not seeking photo ops, Diana always did. Kate has confidence, Diana unfortunately due to problems stemming from her father's divorce lacked confidence. Just because you picked similar outfits, doesn't make the two women similar any more than if you picked like outfits for any other woman to compare to Diana. What hogwash!

If Kate started dressing like Queen Victoria I could see the need for comparison, but come on we are not comparing different countries or different culture here.  If you compared any young woman of means and similar age you would find simiarites.  Would you like to live in a gold fish bowl too????

What a wasted article.  You are really reaching to find something to write about.  Kate is wearing normal casual wear, the only thing similar in these picks are some colours and given how many there are do you not think that the same combos might appear on both ladies?  Oh what about the designers, do you not think that they might have copied some designs with a bit of twist to them?  If you watch fashion they cycle, clothes that were popular in the 70's have been reserected slowly over the last couple of years both in style and fabric designs!  Find something news worthy and leave both women alone!

There are maybe 4 pictures that are relevant and display the similarities in personal style that the Duchess may share with the Princess. The rest simply miss the mark.  I'm quite disappointed for having navigated away for this. The MSN Beauty & Fashion editor should have seen that right off the bat. Not impressed.

Let go of the Diana "thing"?  Should all history be erased? Wow, I hope that people will remember you (Jeni Haley) more fondly and not say "Would you stop bringing HER name up?!".

But I agree with nicky777 and Lana.

And -- when you look at the shots -- with maybe two exceptions where it's almost equal, Diana wins hands down in class and elegance.  Kate, as pretty and sweet as she is, just doesn't have "it" yet!

P.S. By the way, dear "proofreader32", goody two-shoes is hyphenated :)

Dress like your husband's dead mother seems like a perfect way to turn on a creepoid husband like that useless lump

Isn't it time to let go of the Diana thing? She wasn't the goody two shoes and the goddess she's made out to be.
Give it a rest and let Kate be Kate. This constant comparison is getting a little old
