Vast is the spectrum of foods that can trigger digestive problems: spicy foods, chocolate, peppermint, citrus, tomato-based foods, mustard, chili, and raw onions are all thought to irritate the lining of the esophagus. But what's the major dietary factor in causing reflux? "Eating large, fatty meals," says Jeffrey Alexander, MD, head of the Esophageal Clinic at the Mayo Clinic. That's because fat softens the sphincter muscles, which seal off the lower esophagus. Without a tight seal, stomach acids can back up into it. Be sure to eat foods rich in fibre, the dinner of choice for gut-friendly bacteria. Chow down on at least 20 grams of fibre a day in foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Just add it in gradually to prevent bloating.

You want to make your heartburn worse, keep using Zantac and Pepcid.

I did for years and my stomach kept getting worse because instead of curing my heartburn all those did was to mask the symptoms while the problem got worse and worse and worse.

I found the cure for heartburn, it's called an apple.

Every time I get heartburn I eat an apple an within 5 minutes my heartburn is gone.

Before I started eating apples I was getting really bad heartburn 1-3 times a day, now I get mild heartburn once every 3 days.

My stomach is healing very nicely from all the damage those so called cures have done to me.

Try using apples for curing heartburn and you will see for yourself.

Pop a pill???   This is such bad information!  Stay away from grains especially wheat!  Heartburn and acid reflux are caused from not having enough acid in the stomach!   Take a teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water!   Just another pill popping salesman that wrote this ****!

I was watching a show on tv that had home remedies.

the person said try a small glass of apple cider vinagar.

i tryed this and it work great.

the reason is your stomach does not have enough aicd.

i all way tought i had too much stomach acid.

give it a try with a glass of water after. wait 2o minutes .

its been two month no manger heart burn.

try a spoon full of backing soda added to a 6 0z glass off water its like buckleys it tastes allfull but it works use it all the time when i get heartburn

I eliminated wheat and I went from 2-3 tums a day to 2-3 tums in the last 8 months. Turns out I had a gluten intolerance.  I always used to think it was the  pasta sauce and didn't realize it was the pasta! 

Try it for a week and see if it helps your heartburn.

Was on the "Purple Pill" for 7 years. My hips started aching. looked up side effects and there it was, osteo in the hips. Found that I had to decrease/eliminate coffee which helped. Now use combination of three bicarbonate sodas which when mixed with water and drank will cause a major belch or three and acid is gone.

best stuff for heartburn & acid reflux  take an alka seltzer ,mix tablet in cold water ,after fizz is stirred drink it down --sit up for 15 minutes before going to bed!!

Try (very hard and very seriously) to eliminate meat from your practically cures everything!  It's been over four months for me, now eating lots of fruit, veggies, always looking for meat substitues and they are out there.  We just cook the same but without the meat.  I used to get it bad, severe pain that lasted anywhere from 4 to 8 hours after eating beef especially and since have had nothing but good feelings about giving up animal fats.  I've also eliminated dairy, lots of substitutes for that also.  I've known this for years, just too lazy to get at it until now.  I had donated a kidney in March and that was when I got turned from many foods aftewards, just lost the appetite for it, and have since lost 12 lbs as well....nothing but bonuses.  56 and feeling great!

mother of 5    using a method of not eating after 5 pm and nothing after but small amounts of water or clear pop and maybe a small bowl of plain chips has worked for me                    and the hazelwood necklaces are used for babys that are teething
